The innundation of Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club - 7th July 2012 - top to bottom at 12pm, 4pm and 7pm!

Welcome to our 1st Newsletter of 2014

We welcome all our Readers to that Noah's Ark of cricketing sanctuary - the CCC Newsletter.  We hope that you are all able to survive these tumultuous times.

The Dry Club Initiative

No, this is not a dastardly plan to get rid of bars!
In the light of the dire prognostications of the "experts" and at the instigation of our President, Stuart York, we are putting forward a suggestion to help our potentially embattled Groundsmen.  There could well be a number of Clubs which will be so saturated that even in two month's time grounds will be unplayable, and early season matches and practices may well have to be cancelled.

By the use of our Ground Sharing Bureau, can we suggest that those "high-ground" or well-drained Clubs consider sharing their good fortune? The CCC will be happy to facilitate a locally based initiative for any practice matches to be arranged at dryer Clubs. Any Club with a "dry" pitch may offer their facilities to their damper neighbours via our office so that as many clubs as possible are able to take advantage and not be deprived of essential practice due to their being inundated.

The office will be pleased to hear from any willing participants in this team effort. Please contact Gulfraz
 to get the ball rolling.

In this Newsletter you will find other pieces on our working partners which we commend to your attention.

Barbados beckons the ‘Barmy Army’ of England cricket team

- Island gears up for much-anticipated England v West Indies T20 series, 9,11 & 13 March 2014 –

The island of Barbados is synonymous around the world with rum, yet an association that she holds in equal measure lies with cricket. This March, the England cricket team will head to the Caribbean for the first time in five years to play an exciting series of T20 matches at the spectacular Kensington Oval, 9, 11 & 13 March 2014. Cricket Deal Direct (CDD) UK Ltd, the preferred clothing and equipment supplier for the Conference, have just launched their new "club development programme". Consistent with their original goals to put money back into the amateur game by linking web sites and providing clubs with an automatic cricket shop, the new scheme looks to be even more compelling. Look out for our next NEWSLETTER which will give details of more stories on Club Cricket.
