Community EV Car Sharing Launches in NE Portland

Residents of the Cully neighborhood now have access to shared electric vehicles, thanks to a new pilot program created by Drive Oregon, Hacienda CDC, and Pacific Power. The program has placed three used electric Honda Fits at an affordable housing apartment complex, where they will be available for Hacienda staff and community residents through Turo, a peer-to-peer car sharing platform. This first-of-its-kind program launched on March 24 with a special event featuring the first rental by a local family. Visit our Facebook page for photos of the launch, and check out coverage of the new program by TechCrunch and Climate Solutions.

Drive Oregon continues to pursue other ways to expand access to affordable, clean transportation to underserved communities. This month we also launched a new e-bike pilot program in collaboration with the Community Cycling Center and kicked off a needs assessment to explore what other transportation services could be beneficial to local communities.
Not-To-Miss Updates & Events

Since its founding in 2011, Drive Oregon has continually expanded its reach and impact. This growth has further accelerated thanks to a $1 million grant we were awarded last fall by the U.S. Department of Energy for a regional electric vehicle showcase. In light of our growth and broader industry trends, the time has come to "re-launch" Drive Oregon in order to better reflect our evolving role. Stay tuned for more details next week and attend our monthly event on April 27 to get the full story on our bold new plans for the future. You are also invited to join us for the grand opening of the EV Showcase in downtown Portland on May 1st - save the date!
Clean Vehicle Rebate Bill Moves Forward

HB 2704, a proposed measure that would establish purchase rebates for electric vehicles and a pilot program to expand access in low-income communities, continues to make its way through the Oregon Legislature. The bill was passed by the House Committee on Energy and Environment, and now moves to the House Revenue Committee for further discussion. Show your support for the bill by adding your name here and contacting your legislators to encourage them to support HB 2704!

To promote the benefits of clean vehicles, Drive Oregon hosted an electric vehicle Ride & Drive at the Oregon State Capitol on March 8. Governor Kate Brown opened the event, which attracted dozens of legislators, staff, and residents to check out the electric vehicles and electric bikes on display.
Blog: Facing an Uncertain Future in Washington, D.C.

Drive Oregon's Executive Director, Jeff Allen, and Director of Government Relations, Jeanette Shaw, traveled to Washington D.C. last month to attend the Electric Drive Transportation Association's Annual Membership Meeting. While in D.C., they also had the opportunity to meet with many members of the Oregon delegation and partners at several federal agencies. Read Jeff's takeaways and reflections from the trip on our website.
