RCR received another URGENT call this weekend from the shelter about a seriously injured pup...6 months old, 15 pounds and apparently hit and dragged by a car. She managed to crawl to a nearby warehouse, but could move no further, and employees called Animal Control.
We could not turn our back on this poor pup, so we rushed her immediately to the ER. Almost all of her body is covered in deep, infected, puss-filled wounds, and the pads on her feet are nearly ripped off. The doctors believe this accident happened approximately 5 days ago.
Because of the severity of her open wounds, she is being treated as a burn victim receiving daily hydrotherapy, laser therapy and bandage changes, along with IV fluids, antibiotics and pain meds. She is anemic and has a dangerously low white blood count due to her body trying to fight off this raging infection.
On a good note, she miraculously does not have any broken bones. We pray her little body will be strong enough to overcome this life-threatening infection and heal with the proper medical care and time. The vets feel she would not have survived another day on the streets.
This precious little girl is being affectionately called "Bunny" due to the way she looks in all her bandages.
RCR is very blessed to have a wonderful family of supporters! We are only able to take-in urgent cases like Bunny, with your will help! Donations for Bunny can be made on-line or by check at https://redcollar.org/donate/. No amount is too small! Thank you for your support, thoughts, and prayers. ♥
