Ferran Adrià is visiting Vancouver
to celebrate new collection of books 

 

We are thrilled to announce an unforgettable opportunity to meet Spanish chef Ferran Adrià, formerly of elBulli Restaurant (opened in 1964, closed in 2011 to become a culinary academy). We’ve all heard about this famous restaurant - named the world’s best for five years - and now we have the incredible experience of celebrating the release of Adrià’s new seven volume collection of books, elBulli: 2005-2011 with the man himself.

Our celebrations will take place at The Vancouver Club, where we will host two events on Saturday, March 8: a Cava Reception and Lecture, followed by an intimate and lavish Afterparty for 30 guests. We are proud to present to you the following diverse and very talented chefs who will be preparing the food for both the opening reception and afterparty:  Angus (Maenam), Frank (Blue Water Cafe), Hidekazu (Tojo's), Scott (Pear Tree), Sean (Vancouver Club), Thomas (Thomas Haas Chocolates and Patisserie), and Vikram (Vij's).

The Cava Reception and Lecture,
2 p.m

Ticketholders for both the Lecture and Afterparty will be welcomed into the main lobby of The Vancouver Club with cava and canapés prepared by local, inspiring chefs. Once we have gathered in the ballroom, Adrià, a passionate speaker, will give a lecture followed by a book signing of elBulli: 2005-2011.

Ticket cost:        
$700 for one ticket, includes elBulli: 2005-2011, the seven volume collection. As a special incentive for supporting local small businesses, Barbara-Jo’s Books to Cooks is offering an in-store credit of $62.50 for each single ticket purchased for the reception and lecture.

$800 for two tickets, and one copy of elBulli: 2005-2011. (A great opportunity to treat your favourite chef.)
 
An Intimate and Lavish After Party,
4 p.m.

We are partnering with The Vancouver Club and our local chefs to present a luxurious afterparty for 30 guests to attend after the reception and lecture, allowing for more intimate conversation with Adrià. This event will begin at 4:00 p.m. when the 30 ticketholders will leave the ballroom and convene in the opulent Georgian Room where our local chefs will prepare a feast with wine pairings. At this time Adrià will give another, more intimate talk with a Q & A, and enjoy the sumptuous offerings with our guests.

Ticket cost:
$1000, includes the opening reception, lecture and signing as well as elBulli: 2005-2011, the seven volume collection.
