Electude Launches Electric Drive

Electude International has announced that it has launched a brand new curriculum called Electric Drive.  This new product consists of a complete range of interactive lessons.  They are designed specifically for educating today’s generation of automotive learners about hybrid and electric vehicle technology. There will be over 50 state-of-the-art interactive lessons, quizzes and simulations.

“By introducing an advanced topic on a new technology, such as electric drive, Electude has remained true to its principle of staying on the cutting edge of automotive technology”; said Koen Berends, Electude’s Chief Development Officer.  “Today’s learners will work in this sector for the next four decades and they need to really understand the fundamentals of the new technologies and how these will evolve.  If we just teach them repetitive workshop tasks, then we are doing them a great disservice.  Our industry is changing faster than we think and educators need to keep up.  Electude Electric Drive has been designed to provide instructors with the content and tools to do just that”; Mr. Berends continued.

With Electude Electric Drive, learners will develop a comprehensive understanding of the terms, components, and global operation of both hybrid and electric vehicles.   The program also covers the latest battery technology.

Derby College has welcomed back Catherine Treanor

Derby College has welcomed back one of it’s former students who has returned to train her old lecturers in the latest automotive industry education software technology.

21 year old Catherine Treanor from Duffield studied at Derby as part of her Motor Vehicle apprenticeship at Station Garage in Belper where she won a College Peak Award and was highly commended in the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Outstanding Achievers Award. She also represented the College at various events to encourage more females into the industry and completed work experience in Germany as part of Derby College’s European work exchange programme. Treanor worked for VW in Derby for nearly a year before being appointed as a Business Development Manager with automotive e-learning provider, Electude UK.

Talking about her experience, Treanor says, “Derby College gave me the practical skills and teaching support I needed to progress in my career. I am therefore delighted to now have the opportunity to work with my former lecturers so that they can utilise Electude to support their students now and in the future. When I was studying at college, I struggled with the textbooks. It was only when I was introduced to Electude in my second year that everything changed for me. My understanding of the electrics and diagnostics side changed overnight and I was able to really grasp the inner workings of components. I thoroughly enjoy working for Electude. I work remotely from home but have also had the opportunity to work and train in the Netherlands and USA with the company.”

Speaking for Derby College, Motor Vehicle Team Leader Matthew Curtis says, “Cat was one of our outstanding students and we were delighted that she is now working with the College to support the development our e-learning programmes. She has embraced the opportunities open to her both when she was at College and now in her career and is a fantastic role model for male and female students in the Motor Vehicle department at the College. We look forward to working with her further in the future.”
