Confirmation/Middle School News
  • Confirmation registration. Registration for the 2019-2020 Confirmation year is Wednesday, August 21 or 28. It will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. and end around 7:30 to 7:45. You can pick either date to register. Our new Confirmation ministry is "Here We Stand" from Augsburg Fortress.
  • Pool party. Hey middle school youth, yeah you 6-8 graders: we are having our first Confirmation/Sunday School gathering on Sunday, August 25, from 12:00–2:00 p.m. at the Etheredge home for a pool party. All parents and youth are invited to attend. I will be talking about the new Confirmation Ministry we’ll be using in the 2019-20 year. We will also get to know one another and start forming those “Incarnational Relationships". I hope to see you out at the Etheredge’s on August 25.
Gary K (DYFM) God’s Peace!
High school pool party. Attention all high school youth, 9-12 grade only: we are going to have our first get together as a high school youth group this Friday, August 16, from 7-9 p.m. We will meet at the Etheredge home for a pool party. My hopes for this gathering is to get to know all of you and find out your dreams for a healthy, vibrant youth group. I also would like to set a vision for our high school youth group and talk about important issues that relate to you specifically. I would also like to see if we can set up a mission trip for us for the summer of 2020. I look forward to meeting ALL of you. Parents, please encourage your youth to attend.     Gary K (DYFM) God’s Peace!
Seeking Sunday School teachers. The new school year is upon us, starting September 15, and we are seeking Sunday School teachers for our preK-8th grade students (Gary Knutson will lead the High School class). We operate in teaching teams (provides flexible scheduling!) and the curriculum is provided (plenty of activities—you don't need to design your own lessons). Please contact Kristen Etheredge or Gary for more information. Please join us in making an impact in the lives of our youth!
Member Care Committee volunteers needed. Do you love to help members feel welcomed and loved? Do you enjoy helping to create warm environments for our members? Do you like celebrations and helping new members feel our AGLC hospitality? The Member Care Committee is the place to be! Our next meeting is this Thursday, August 15, at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Room, and we’d love to see you there. For more information, please contact Joan Lucas. We’re excited to hear new ideas, so please join us!
The annual Men's Group Dove Hunt will be September 13-15. Our men's group together with Calvary's will be meeting in Roscoe, Texas. This event is for all men 16 years old and above. We hunt four times: Friday evening, twice on Saturday, and once on Sunday. You can attend whatever fits your schedule. It is a great weekend to enjoy the outdoors and fellowship. Some men come out and do not even hunt, coming for the enjoyment and camaraderie. Cost is $40. Please contact Mark Etheredge or Jerry Court for questions and to sign up (please sign up by September 1).
Pastor Nick elected. At last week's ELCA Churchwide Assembly in Milwaukee, Pastor Nick was elected to the ELCA Church Council! The Church Council serves as the board of directors for the national ELCA church, meeting at least twice a year. Congratulations, Pastor Nick!
Backpack blessing. All youth, teachers, and administrators, we are going to do a blessing of the backpacks this Sunday, August 18, at the 10 a.m. worship service. Please bring your backpack, briefcase, class roster, or whatever you want blessed.
