JWF Monthly Advocacy Issues Update

Dear JWF Trustees and Friends:

We are pleased to share the Advocacy Committee's January update highlighting our grantees and issues impacting Jewish women and girls.

Please join JWF for two upcoming educational events. Our Annual Meeting on Monday, January 25th will feature Hamutal Gouri, Executive Director of the Dafna Fund, Israel’s only women’s foundation. An expert on women’s philanthropy and gender equality, Hamutal is a dynamic and fascinating speaker who is literally at the epicenter of social change for women in Israel. We hope you’ll be able to join us as we welcome her to Chicago. Then, on Monday, February 29th  JWF and JCRC will co-sponsor a program about Illinois’ religious refusal laws. JWF’s grantee the Roger Baldwin Foundation of ACLU is leading statewide advocacy efforts on this important issue. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn how these laws affect the Jewish community – panelists include ACLU’s Lorie Chaiten and other key stakeholders.

As always, please feel free to pass along any information you think we should share with our Trustees.

Nancy Kohn, Advocacy Committee Chair
Sara Kalish, Senior Program Officer

P.S. What better way to start the New Year than helping others? Consider adding your voice to JWF grantee ATZUM's Project 119 campaign to protect the well-being of thousands of women and girls from the control of pimps and johns. Sign up to help pass legislation against sex trafficking and prostitution in Israel!
