To Walk About in Freedom: The Long Emancipation of Priscilla Joyner
Priscilla Joyner was born into the world of slavery in 1858 North Carolina and came of age at the dawn of emancipation. Raised by a white slave-holding woman, Joyner never knew the truth about her parentage. Would you like to try an instrument that is fun and easy to play? Join Julie Stepanek as she shows the fundamentals of ukulele playing. Learn to tune, strum & read chords. After a short lesson, you’ll be able to play songs, too! Bring your own ukulele or borrow one of Julie's for the class. 2 classes available: on Wednesday, 8/17 at Bishops Corner at 10:30AM and at the Noah Webster Library at 2PM.
