We made it through the Polar Vortex and it is officially spring in Chicago! Demoiselle 2 Femme, NFP is ramping up for an eventful year which includes celebrating 20 years of providing programs and services to girls. While only ten of those years has been as a nonprofit organization, the milestones we have achieved in supporting girls to become successful women and impacting our community have been astounding! Spring at D2F includes: the blossoming of our first “N-Gen” young professionals board; the repackaging and distribution of our 3-D curriculum; graduations celebrations for our current high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate alumni, and a host of community and professional development events. Despite the challenges of violence, apathy, cyclical poverty and health disparities which impact our communities, D2F is infusing HOPE to a generation of girls and young women. Support us in our mission and help to increase college access, STEM opportunities, health promotion and prevention programming for urban girls today by becoming a monthly donor. Your donation can be a SPRINGboard of hope for a girl!
Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and supporters who continually make an effort to support our vision and mission. If you haven't already, please take a moment to join our emailing list and visit social media pages.

WVON Radio Gives A Lesson on History, Media, and How to be Successful
How did girls from G-WAVE (Girls With A Voice Empowered) spend their President’s Day holiday? Being Empowered! Daveda Flute shared with participants the history of WVON and its significance in the African American experience. Melody Spann-Cooper, President of WVON also shared with our D2F GWave girls during their Successful Women Leadership Symposium. During her chat with the girls, Ms. Spann-Cooper shared with them gems of wisdom she would say to her 16-year old self.
She started by reminding them that all their friends cannot go where they are headed in life.Ms. Spann-Cooper further admonished the girls to appreciate the wisdom that parents, adults, and mentors give. Last, she ended her chat with encouraging the girls to never be afraid to go after their dreams.
The visit ended with our D2F GWave participants recording their very own commercil. To read what they learned and to hear our first D2F commercial click here.
PAUSE...to Create a Legacy of Health for Girls
On March 10th, which happens to be National Women and Girls' HIV/AIDS awareness day, Demoiselle 2 Femme hosted our annual PAUSE event, which is designed to help raise awareness in our communities about the effects and ways to prevent the contraction of HIV/AIDS. The event was held at South Holland Community Center. We split the teens and parents into two separate groups, and each had breakout sessions discussing sexual health issues, and the realities and myths of HIV/AIDS and STDS/STIs.
