A Message from Jane

Anyone else ready for cooler days to come?

Columbia’s Climate Protection Action Council (CPAC) is striving to bring the greater Columbia community together with pro-active climate protection initiatives by becoming a STAR Community.

Recently CPAC’s Appointee Committee visited our Material Recovery Facility here at Sonoco Recycling to learn how recycling helps South Carolina’s economy and environment including reducing energy use and the resulting greenhouse gasses which trap heat in the atmosphere.

Innovative, Green Packaging Products

As more and more cities are banning styrofoam take out containers, grocery stores and resturants are looking for an alternative. Recently, Sonoco released it's latest innovative packaging solutions, compostable take-out containers. The containers are already being used in the leading natural and organic food supermarket chains in North America and are a part of a growing trend of green packaging.
