“Disability Hub Europe for Sustainable Growth and Social Innovation” (Disability Hub Europe), a European initiative led by Fundación ONCE and co-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), is aimed at building a reference space (“hub”) for best practice exchange, dissemination, mutual learning and raising awareness on the binomial Disability and Sustainability.

DHub launching event

DHub Launching Event took place on March 21st at the European Parliament. The event was attended by representatives from EU institutions, companies, public administrations, civil society entities, platforms and other organizations committed in one way or another to sustainability and disability. At the conference, DHub partners shared their approach and strategies towards disability and sustainability.

Disability in Sustainability Reporting 

Guide “Disability in Sustainability Reporting”

In the framework of Disability Hub Europe, the Guide “Disability in Sustainability Reporting”, developed by Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Fundación ONCE in 2015 has been updated to respond to the current GRI Standards, to the Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals. This updated guide –the only one of its kind, applicable at international level and co-funded by the European Social Fund has been presented at the launch event of Disability Hub Europe.

Webinar “Disability in Sustainability Reporting”


The webinar was held on October 29th, it counted with more than 50 participants from different countries and offered the opportunity to learn about the updated Guide “Disability in Sustainability Reporting”. It was organized by DHub partner CSR Europe.

“Making the future of work inclusive of persons with disabilities”

Within the framework of DHub, Fundación ONCE and the ILO Global Business and Disability Network have developed the joint publication: “Making the Future of Work Inclusive of Persons with Disabilities” with the aim of showing how the trends of the future of work will bring opportunities and challenges for persons with disabilities and expose the urgency of taking action. The publication was presented at 6th Annual Meeting of the ILO Global Business and Disability Network on November 21st and at the United Nations Business and Human Rights Forum on November 27th.

DHub Steering Committee 2019

The first DHub Steering Committee was held on November 13th, with the participation of all DHub Partners: Fundación ONCE, as the leading partner; L´Oréal, Dow, the ILO Global Business and Disability Network, CSR Europe, Global Reporting Initiative and the European Disability Forum. The meeting was the opportunity to share the general status of the project and the main milestones achieved, to exchange best practices and knowledge and to discuss about the current situation of the binomial disability and sustainability.

Webinar – Leveraging the disability-related SDGs in your grantmaking

The European Foundation Centre Disability Thematic Network organized the “Leveraging the disability-related SDGs in your grantmaking” webinar on June 26th in the framework of Disability Hub Europe. The overall objective of the webinar was to enhance funders’ knowledge on the Agenda 2030 and how to leverage the SDGs in their work. The European Foundation Centre is a collaborating entity of Disability Hub Europe.

Dow celebrates Fiesta for All: the most inclusive festivity of Tarragona

The Fiesta for All program is an initiative that allows people with disabilities to enjoy the Santa Tecla celebrations in Tarragona and is the most inclusive of all the festivities. It has counted with Dow support for many years. The Fiesta for All took place on September 2019.

6th Annual Meeting of the ILO Global Business and Disability Network

The ILO Global Business Disability Network held its “Future of Work” conference on 21st and 22nd November at the ILO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The event was also the opportunity for launching ILO GBDN’s worldwide communication campaign #InvalidOpinions and discussing about the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy.

CSR Europe 3rd Brussels SDG Summit

CSR Europe 3rd SDG Summit, that took place on May 6th and 7th in Brussels, included a roundtable, moderated by DHub, on how disability is present at the Agenda 2030 and the SDGs and how companies can foster social and labour inclusion of people with disabilities.

Regional Forum on Sustainable Development

The European Disability Forum organized the only accessible side event at the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the UNECE Region, a regional space for peer learning and sharing of practical solutions on implementing the Agenda 2030 and the SGDs. DHub participated to share how the project contributes to SDG 8 “Decent work and economic growth”. The event took place on March 22nd in Geneva.

L’Oréal Diversity & Disability employees workshop

In 2018, L’Oréal celebrated the 10th edition of its DisAbility Awards, an internal competition focusing on the inclusion of people with disabilities and seeking to share and promote best practices. In the framework of this edition; L´Oréal Diversity & Disability managers from around the world participated in a workshop where DHub shared its approach towards the inclusion of people with disabilities, a 360º approach. The event took place on December 7th 2018 in Paris.
