🍩 Meet the Elite Ate — er Eight
Plus, we got you a Valentine's Day present.
HellOOOOOO it’s Friday!
Can we get a drumroll please? ‘Cause it’s time to reveal the Elite Eight in our Ultimate Portland Doughnut Bracket!
This week’s race saw close calls, sweet flavors, and spicy passion from all of you who voted.
So without further ado, let’s get scrolling and see who made it to this round — and speculate who will become our Final Four.

😊 Comforting classic flavors were the name of the game.
Fritters and bear claws led the bracket this go-round. We also saw cozy chocolatey doughnuts like Nola’s Smores doughnut and Coco’s Double Chocolate Glazed doughnut leave a strong impression in the votes.
🤔 Pip’s is in the lead — for now.
Pip’s Dirty Wu took the lead, but Donut Queen’s Apple Fritter is hot on their heels. This cinnamon sugar doughnut drizzled with honey and Nutella brought in a whopping 95 votes, but Donut Queen was close behind.
Other strong contenders are both from Nola’s Donuts — the Smores doughnut and the Lemon Poppyseed with Raspberry Jam.
😬 Two contenders made it through by the skin of their teeth
Coco’s Double Chocolate Glazed doughnut and Angel’s Apple Bear Claw cinched this round, but it was a tough fight.
Both of these challengers saw strong competition from their opponents, Doe’s Portland Fog and Blue Star’s Blueberry Bourbon Basil fought neck and neck right up till polls closed.
To reiterate — our bracket is not here to find the “best” Portland doughnut because “best” means something different to everybody. But we are here to highlight the doughnuts that Portlanders really love and which ones you feel best represent our fair city.
Regardless if your favorite doughnut made it to the next round — show all of our nominated doughnuts some love and support. 💖
Portlanders really 💖 a good doughnut
Across the board, we saw voters pick passionately and root for their favorite Portland doughnut. You all showed your love with nearly 200 votes pouring in. We are sure to see more tight races and victors as our eight doughnuts become four.
Vote here by 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18 to see who makes it to the next round.
❓ Bracket FAQs
How does a bracket work?
Here’s a quick primer on how our brackets work.
Who lands on a bracket?
The original 32 slots are based on reader nominations and staff research. There’s a nomination period before each bracket to collect recommendations on who to include. There is no fee to participate, and you can’t buy a spot in the bracket.
Keep on votin’.
Who advances in each round is strictly based on the number of votes for that round. We’ve had some tight match-ups, so every vote counts! Yes, you can vote more than once in each round.
How can I sponsor a bracket?
Our sales team works with companies who want to sponsor brackets and related events. For more information, contact Benjamin.
Tell your friends!
Contenders are welcome to encourage their fans to vote for them. Past participants have posted flyers and created social media campaigns to rally their troops.
