Camp Forms

Parents, make sure that you are looking for the Glorieta release form, you should have received it today if your student is going to camp. Please fill it out asap and let us know if you did not receive it. This is in addition to the Student Life Camp release that you should have also done. I am working on getting list from SLC of those who have completed that form. If you are not sure if you have done it, I should be able to tell you in the next day or so.

Sunday School

This week seniors will begin meeting with the college ministry for Sunday school (B204). Juniors will continue to meet in their current Sunday school room. 6th grade will be meeting with 7th grade. Everyone else should be in their normal departments.

The D6 App is a great tool for connecting your weekly reading to our Sunday morning Bible studies. You can access the D6 magazines for every age group, plus it offers bonus resources like the parent pages and some podcasts. Access the magazine does require a password for each one they will be listed below. This is the same material that is offered in the take home magazines we give out with the beginning of each new curriculum cycle. Check it out and encourage your family to do the same.

We are taking our annual mission trip/6 flags trip July 24-26. This trip is open to incoming 6th graders as well as our students from last year. This trip is a great opportunity to serve and to have some fun. We will leave very early on Monday and return mid-day on Wednesday. It is a quick trip, but it is a blast.

Love Your Neighbor Challenge

We took up the My1 Challenge leading into Easter and honestly, our students probably did the best of any department. Let’s keep that energy going by taking up the Love Your Neighbor Challenge. Ideally you will be doing this with a My1, but if not, then just find someone in your circle who you can serve this week. Keep it simple. Find one thing you can do for one person that is out of the ordinary and helps them. If the opportunity comes, invite them to church.

1studentsx Blog

I started a blog back in the fall. I didn’t write much in the Spring, but I have picked back up with a series that I started called, “Teaching Your Kids to Play with Fire.” The idea behind the series was to talk honestly about technology and equipping our kids to use its power well. Like fire, technology can be a really good thing, but it can also be really destructive, so I wanted to start a conversation about how to use it well.

This will not be the only thing posted. I will post trip updates here as well. Eventually, this is a great place to find recommended resources, thoughts on different topics, and updates while we are traveling. If you get a minute, I would love for you to check it out. My most recent post was focused on video games, this includes mobile games like iPhone games. I would encourage you to check it our if your kids plays games on a console, a computer, or on a phone/tablet.

Summer is Gonna be Awesome!
