NBOE Now Hiring for New and Expanding Schools for
The 2021-2022 School Year

 
The Newark Board of Education will be opening three additional schools for the 2021-2022 School Year. The district will also be creating additional grade levels in eight schools! With the additional schools and grade expansions, there will be a multitude of positions that will be available for hire. WE NEED YOU!

The applications for the various titles are NOW LIVE!  Interviews will be scheduled and held virtually. We are looking for dynamic candidates that will personify the culture of each of our new schools. If you know someone who is ready to join our growing district, share this announcement.

BRAND NEW SCHOOLS OPENING!
 

Michelle Obama Elementary School
This humanitarian themed school will serve students in grades Pre-K through 2 with the expectation of increasing one grade level each academic school year. At Michelle Obama Elementary School, the goal will be to challenge our students daily by facilitating authentic learning experiences through interdisciplinary thematic units. 

The School of Fashion and Design
The School of Fashion and Design is a four-year public high school where students can manifest their creative style, pioneer new design innovations, and influence the world of fashion. The School of Fashion and Design will feature courses in Fashion Drawing and History teaching students how to understand the exploration of the body with fabrics, using a variety of design techniques.  Other courses will concentrate on Fashion Computer Arts incorporating the foundational knowledge and hands-on experience that comes with software applications typically used by designers and textile artists in the fashion industry.

Newark School of Data Science and Information Technology
The Newark School of Data Science and Information Technology will also begin with an inaugural 9th grade class, seeking to prepare the next generation of Research Scientists and Information Technology Professionals. Courses will focus on bringing about organizational and technological change in all aspects of their community.  The overall mission, to prepare students for immediate college and career opportunities by combining the most innovative curriculum in data science with cutting edge industry standard technology.

Opened 20-21SY

Newark School of Global Studies
Rising to meet the challenges of a globalizing world, the Newark School of Global Studies prepares the next generation of global leaders by providing students with fluency in a second language, immersion in a foreign culture, and the exchange of ideas through digital mediums. This magnet school will be expanding to 10th grade.
 
Sir Isaac Newton Elementary School
Sir Isaac Newton Elementary School will be adding a 2nd grade class! Students at this science-focused elementary school are engaged through continuous hands-on learning experiences in areas such as STEM, Architecture, and more! The school will continue to expand until it contains grades Pre-K through Eight, and its graduates will attend the prestigious Science Park High School.


Opened 19-20SY

Newark Vocational High School
Newark Vocational High School received a Silver Medal Award for Architectural Design! The school’s 10,000SF space was dramatically transformed over the last few years making it a premier educational facility. This high school will be growing to 11th grade! Students will be able to earn college credits, participate in internships, and earn industry recognized certifications
 
East Ward Elementary
Beginning in Prekindergarten and growing to the 4th grade, students will be immersed in a community that focuses on building self-respect  and student achievement. Students at this school are amongst the first to have the full benefit of a vision that considers the holistic wellbeing of children from conception to cradle and college to career.

Known for its exceptional performance in student achievement, these schools were selected by the Newark Board of Education to expand beyond its current grade levels and continue to build upon its proven success. Thanks to its first rate leadership, the school embodies and models high-quality education and performance key to the district's ten-year strategic plan.
