May ArtWalk
Friday Eve, May 6, 6-9:30 pm
Saturday, May 7, 11 am - 4 pm

A great time to enjoy the Village. The evenings are still comfortable and the art, food and music is delightful. Just  a note here to let you know that Hearts Desire will not be open for ArtWalk this month. First time in 10 years! But I have a very good reason for not being behind the counter as you will see in the next story.

Worth the Wait!
I am spending the first three weeks of May in Chicago learning to be a grandmother. Meet Aspen Rollo Cara, entered the world on April 27 at 11:13 pm. 7 lbs, 7oz, 21 in long. He couldn't have planned his arrival any better. He went home from the hospital on Friday afternoon about the same time my flight from Tampa landed at Midway airport.

He is very pleasant and very content in my arms. We are spending some quality time together! Oh yeah, when I am not holding him I am cooking food and washing clothes. He does go through the clothes!  I had forgotten that!
Arts Brunch & Fashion Show a Lovely Success!
It was a lovely Saturday in the beer garden at Motorworks Brewing in Bradenton, adjacent to the Village of the Arts, site of the 15th Annual Arts Brunch & Fashion Show. The weather was perfect with sunshine and a gentle breeze. The garden was full of art on display and up for sale or auction presented or donated by the Village artists. The Village restauranteurs and chefs delivered up a sumptuous buffet of delectable samplings from their respective businesses.

Lovely models strutted their stuff, with fashions from Hearts Desire and jewelry and accessories from Village galleries. Artist Donna Gauntlet, songbird Rebecca Bird, dutiful daughter Meredith Rollo, Director of the Manatee Education Foundation Mary Glass, Isagenix coach Cathy Tyler and fashion stylist Barbara Ellen walked the deck amidst the attendees. DJ Radio Val provided the music and photographer Sherri Proctor snapped the pics.

The proceeds from the event benefit the Artist Guild of Manatee. Our thanks to all the volunteers, artists, vendors and attendees.

A tentative date for next year's Arts Brunch & Fashion Show is Saturday, April 1, 2017. Mark your calendars!
Design & Designer
This lovely mixed fabric collage jacket  (left photo) designed by Cherie Ketchum (right photo) was a hit of the fashion show. Hearts Desire is fortunate to represent such talented designers. And Cherie also works behind the scenes, often dressing the models in the fashion shows. I couldn't do it without her!
Thank you Cherie!
