La Dolce Vita in English Harbour & What's On ...
LA DOLCE VITA IN ENGLISH HARBOUR

The Italian dining connection has been a long and sweet one in English Harbour when more than 30 years ago Abracadabra opened its doors. Who would think that these bastions of Antigua dining would continue to deliver such consistency and taste today? The Southern Italian and Sardinian influence in Chef Salvatore’s cooking is still as strong now as it was when he arrived in Antigua. You can be sure that a return trip to Abracadabra this season will be met with your classic favourites. Excellent Anti-Pasto Misto, Porceddu (suckling pig that melts in your mouth), rich wines and decadent deserts. And Paolo’s service is legendary. Of course for party-goers, they still deliver throughout the season with the first event taking place tomorrow night.

At the other end of the Harbour, Cambusa has its opening night, Luscious, on Friday starting from 6pm. The menu prepared on strictly ancient Italian traditions is about theatre as well as an explosion of taste. Cambusa also offer an excellent yacht and private home catering service, so definitely worth reviewing if you are planning an event for a large group. On the same night, English Harbour Radio also join them to celebrate the station’s first birthday. If you haven’t sampled Alessandro and Laura’s hospitality and looked at the lights across the harbour from their deck while enjoying a glass of champagne or wine, you are missing out.

Back into the Harbour, keeping a low profile but high on style, Sun Ra has been open for a week. Their garden lounge continues to be the perfect place for an aperitif. Betty will navigate you through the freshly prepared Mediterranean menu to a backdrop of Jazz and new world music.
New for this season will be music on Wednesday evenings.

New kid on the block this week is Ticchio Restaurant and Inn. If you’ve eaten at their restaurant in town you will be familiar with their style, and the concept has evolved in English Harbour. The terrace at sunset is idyllic for sundowners and the courtyard restaurant downstairs serves up authentic Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. Join them for Happy Hour from 5-7pm today, and Sunset Apperitvo with complimentary finger foods from 5 - 7pm tomorrow. The location has literally transformed so be sure to try them out.

Back at Falmouth Harbour, South Point, the epitome of contemporary style and stunning views also re-opened yesterday. Excellent fresh sushi along with other Asian and Mediterranean dishes are on the menu for lunch and dinner. They also open for breakfast and there is no doubt that deck suspended over the water is a great watch spot for boats entering the harbour at this time of year.

There is a lot going on this weekend around Antigua so be sure to check out the What’s On and restaurant Opening Times guide for a full list.
