Antigua was completely untouched, but our sister-isle Barbuda only 39 miles to the North was completely annihilated. A year on and many challenges remain but the determination of the islanders has meant that they are declaring that Barbuda, known for its unspoiled beauty, will be open for business from November. The new motto “We live it, you’ll love it, visit Barbuda" is an invitation to experience the island for yourself. Making the trip to our beautiful sister isle by water is a great option. Set sail on an exhilarating 90-minute cruise from Antigua to Barbuda on Excellence, or make the journey with Barbuda Express ferry (they will be on Dry Dock from September 10th - 25th). Adventure Antigua and Creole Antigua Tours also offer excursions to Barbuda. Alternatively, you can charter a private sailboat or speedboat and navigate at your own pace. For cruising yachts, it’s a great place to anchor if you’re looking for peace and quiet. If you want to get there faster, or water isn’t your thing, a quick hop with Caribbean Helicopters Ltd  . is the perfect solution.  Once you’ve landed in Barbuda – spend an unforgettable day swimming, snorkeling, and exploring. Take a tour to see the birds who have returned back to the Frigate Bird Colony and visit historical sites. Then head to the gorgeous pink sand beach for some relaxation. Dip in the turquoise blue waters and bask in the sun under the clear blue skies. The island may have been hit by a Category 5 hurricane but they are coming back strong.
