FORWARD TOGETHER THIS INDEPENDENCE...

As we gear up to celebrate Antigua & Barbuda’s 37th Independence Anniversary on Thursday, November 1st – check out the myriad of events and sales annunciated by the Antigua & Barbuda Festivals Commission, and businesses to commemorate the occasion.   
Whether you're a local or visiting the island, get into the Independence spirit and join in the celebrations. The curtains are drawn at 8pm tonight, Thursday, October 25th for the Theatrical Presentation at Dean William Lake Cultural Centre. On Friday 26th, the National Heroes Day celebration kicks off from 10am at Heroes Park, followed by the 2nd Independence Street Fair with local food, sweet treats, Arts & Crafts, and music from 11am on Redcliffe Street. The Fashion Show which was scheduled for Saturday has been postponed.


Sunday celebrations feature Mass with blessings from 4pm at Cathedral of St. John the Divine. From Monday - Wednesday, it’s the National Junior Panorama Competition, National Dress Day, and National Youth Rally & Activities at Antigua Recreation Ground. There’s also a new event on the calendar this year – the Visual Arts Exhibition.

Get a triple dose of excitement on Thursday, November 1st. Don't miss the Ceremonial Parade & National Awards ceremony from 7:30am at Antigua Recreation Ground. Once the function is over, make your way to Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium to indulge in local specialties such as Ducana, Fungi, Seasoned Rice and more at the Food Fair. After you've had your fill, watch the friendly cricket matches between WIRPF All Stars West Indies XI and Antigua West Indies XI at 12pm. The ICC Women's West Indies team and English team also face off in a warm-up T20 match at 3pm.

The official celebrations come to a close with the premier of the film “Loving Daniella” at 7:30pm on Saturday, November 3rd at Caribbean Cinemas. After the movie head down to Paradise Café for the big Independence party with amazing food, drink specials & rocking entertainment by Excel Sounds, and Clash of the Bands out of Guyana.
