January 2017 Update:
This newsletter contains three updates on our work at JLens:
1. Save the date! Jewish Impact Investing Summit in NYC
JLens is organizing our first day-long conference, the Jewish Impact Investing Summit, on December 5, 2017 hosted by Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business in New York City. Modeled off the Vatican Impact Investing Conference, this educational gathering will bring together leaders of the Jewish community with leaders of the responsible/impact investing movement. If you are interested in sponsorship or speaking opportunities, please email info@jlensnetwork.org
2. JLens 2017 Investor and Jewish Community Survey is now live!
Thank you to the many people who provided robust feedback on our previous survey in advance of the launch of JLens' Jewish Advocacy Fund. The fund has been in existence for one year thanks to seed investments by Jewish institutions. JLens annual survey helps ensure that the fund's investment guidelines and shareholder advocacy priorities represent consensus opinion in the Jewish community. We greatly appreciate you taking a few minutes to share your opinion with us, and please forward the survey to others.
3. JLens Impact in 2016
In 2016, JLens provided long overdue representation for the Jewish community at responsible/impact investing forums organized by the United Nations, interfaith coalitions, the Vatican, universities, NGOs, and other convenings.
The multi-million dollar Jewish Advocacy Fund enabled JLens to advocate on behalf of Jewish communal investment capital for social and environmental concerns in collaboration with other responsible investors. We engaged in shareholder campaigns related to human trafficking, worker safety, public health, pollution, food waste, deforestation, and many more.
Additionally, JLens is the lone voice providing support for Israel and combatting BDS activity in the responsible investing field through numerous public and private conversations with corporate social responsibility leaders and responsible investing professionals.
In 2017, JLens will be hiring the first full-time shareholder advocate representing the Jewish community, based in New York City. Email info@jlensnetwork.org for more information on this exciting position.
Thank you for your support!
