We're glad that it is finally starting to feel like Spring.  With Daylight-Savings coming up this weekend, our evening volunteers won't have to come in when it's dark out. This issue of the Shelter Scoop features some of the events coming up this month.  We also have some updates from our PAWS Alumni!  Stay tuned for updates as we start gearing up for Volunteer Appreciation Week in April.  PAWS will be closed to the public on Sunday, March 27th, for Easter.  Eggs of appreciation will soon be popping back up at PAWS.  Who knows, maybe you'll get a visit from the Dexter Bunny or his helper, Little Bunnyster!

PAWS Bingo

Join us for a fun evening of PAWS Bingo!

Date: Friday, April 8, 2016

Where: Mountain View Country Club, 100 Elks Club Road Boalsburg, PA 16827

Time: Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with early birds at 6:30 p.m. Bingo begins at 7:00 p.m.

PRIZES: Vera Bradley, Pandora Jewelry, and CASH PRIZES!

Tickets: 20 Games of Bingo are included with admission! Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. 2 Early Bird Games and 5 Special Bingo Games will be available for purchase at the event. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Board Game Night at PAWS!



Join us for a night of board game fun!  Bring your friends and your favorite board game to PAWS on Friday, March 18th.  We'll meet at 6:30 pm and order pizza.  BYOB as long as you're over 21!  Please email Catherine (Catherine@centrecountypaws.org)  with which game/games you'd like to bring and what kind of pizza you'd like!

PAWS Volunteer 50/50


We love having volunteer events and being able to do things for our volunteers but sometimes these things cost money.  We decided we'd have a 50/50 Fundraiser to raise money.  This will help us have more volunteer events, buy floor volunteer vests, and buy other volunteer swag.  It will be $5, for 3 tickets, $10 for 7 tickets, and $20 for 20 tickets.  Tickets are available at the Front Desk and place money in the money box with a note or money tracker.  Change can be made, just ask Catherine, Lisa, or a front desk volunteer.  You can buy tickets now through Saturday, April 2nd when we'll be announcing the winners!

We met our new best friend in February!

40 cats were successfully adopted in February, bringing the year total to 76 placements
29 dogs were successfully adopted in February, bringing the year total to 48 placements

Penny arrived at Paws on Sept. 19th with her two 6-week old puppies, Linus and Lucy.  On arrival she was diagnosed with heartworm but needed to wait for treatment until the puppies were weaned.  Results of a blood test during her first vet visit at Centre Animal Hospital indicated that she had microfilaria so a  treatment protocol was initiated in early October.  Treatment required  monthly trips to the vet for heartworm preventive and 2 injections of melarsomine in November and December.  She was declared heartworm free in mid January.  
Things with Murphy are going great. He has adjusted very well! He learned very quickly to to avoid the cat, but they seem to have a mutual agreement to avoid each other now. He loves to go to work in the truck with me when I have short day trips. I just can't believe how well he listens and how well trained he is! He loves his playtime, but I think he enjoys his naps even more! We just love him. Please thank Michele and everyone at PAWS for us! 
Toby was adopted last May. He loves his new mom and dad! #AdoptDontShop
