Worm Release, following Weekly Community Gardening —
Saturday, Aug. 15, Noon
No need to be squeamish! Help release hundreds of night crawlers into Garden beds and learn how earthworms aerate and fertilize the soil organically.
This free, family-friendly event is part of our season-long gardening initiative Edible Garden Lab, funded in part by a generous grant from Citizens Committee for New York City. Let's engage with the Garden as a living laboratory and learn how to cultivate a vital green space that also provides a nutritious resource for the neighborhood.

Highlights: Volunteer Cookout & Potluck and Live Music Sunday
Volunteer Cookout & Potluck
Thank you everyone who came out Thursday to enjoy each other's company in the Garden during our Volunteer Cookout & Potluck and especially those who brought delicious appetizers, salads and sides. Without volunteer commitment and community support, we would not be able to keep the Garden open.
Special thanks to event leader Bonnie Soon-Osberger and her indispensable team — Douglas Dunn, Christopher Hannan, Bridget Scallen and Patricia Squillari — for making it all happen and Chris Radick for entertaining us with his music performance.

Live Music Sunday
Thanks to musicians Jas Walton and Miles Francis for performing Walton's "Face the Facts," a collection of four songs that set lectures by Eastern philosophy interpreter Alan Watts to original electronic music. The Garden's afternoon serenity was a beautiful setting to experience the work.
