Changes to Safety Measures for Worship

As you know, the City of Milwaukee has lifted all COVID restrictions, including mask requirements and social distancing. Churches and businesses are allowed to set their own requirements for masks and distancing.

In May, we did a congregation-wide survey to determine the comfort level of our people as a whole. After assessing the responses, the Executive Committee of St. John's has made several decisions regarding our safety measure. Please take the time to read through them carefully.
  • St. John's is offering one "safe service" each weekend at which social distancing and the wearing of masks are required. Based on the attendance habits of people who prefer to worship with the safety measures in place, this safe service is Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.
  • For the Sunday 8:15 a.m. service and Monday 6:30 p.m. service, masks and social distancing are no longer required.
  • We will continue to stream the Sunday services, and the video of the service will still be available on our website and YouTube channel.
  • In keeping with the guidance of the CDC and the Milwaukee Health Department, St. John's encourages those not yet vaccinated to continue to wear masks.
  • You are welcome to continue wearing a mask at any of the services if you'd like.
  • Communion will remain "continuous flow" style.
  • We will continue our practice of not using hymnals, friendship registers or service booklets at this time. Song booklets will be used when new music is introduced, but congregants are asked to discard after use.
  • Coffee is served on Sundays after the 8:15 service, and we will once again be serving food when we have the volunteers to do so.
  • For Bible Study, masks will not be required, but social distancing will continue to be encouraged.
We will continue to monitor our worship attendance trends and plan to reevaluate things toward the end of June.

We apologize for the inconvenience if you are now required to attend a different service. Our goal is to offer a safe and uplifting worship experience for as many people as possible. With the adjustments to our worship services as outlined above, we hope that this will encourage as many people as possible to attend in-person worship services. May God continue to bless us as we move forward in his name!
