CANADA’s GUEST OF HONOUR ROLE AT FRANKFURT POSTPONED TO 2021

Livres Canada Books is delighted to see Canada’s presence as Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair postponed to 2021, as announced by Canadian Heritage and Canada FBM2020 earlier today.

We have long been planning our much-anticipated participation and will be unveiling the new design for the 2021 collective stand soon!

Thank you very much for the efforts you have invested in the Guest of Honour project, which will showcase Canadian book publishing and the country as a whole.


SUMMER HOURS IN EFFECT

We would like to remind you that Livres Canada Books’ remote offices close at 1:00 p.m. on Fridays. The summer schedule runs until Friday, September 4th. Regular hours will resume after Labour Day weekend. We wish you all a great summer!

Given the health and safety precautions set out by the Government of Canada owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, until further notice Livres Canada Books does not support or encourage international travel.

We will, nevertheless, continue to provide financial assistance for non-refundable expenses resulting from cancellations.

COMING SOON! WEBINAR ON EXPORTING TO COLOMBIA

Registration will soon be open for our next export market seminar, Exporting to Colombia. The webinar will provide an overview of the Colombian book market and current market trends, reading and book buying habits, introduce key publishers and agents, and explore the topic of licensing rights. Registration is free.
 

VIRTUAL TRADE MISSION TO SPAIN

Livres Canada Books is planning a virtual trade mission to Spain in order to evaluate this market’s potential for Canadian publishers. The information gathered during this mission help steer Livres Canada Books’ programs and services.

The delegation will consist of up to 14 Canadian book publishers who are representative of the industry and active in the Spanish market. Delegates will meet by teleconference with selected Spanish publishers and potential partners in order to extend their overview of this market.

Canada Stand

CANCELLATION OF THE CANADA STAND AT THE 2020 FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR

It is with great sadness that we announce our decision to cancel the Canada Stand at the 2020 Frankfurt Book Fair.

The health of our visitors, exhibitors, and staff is our priority. At this time, given the health and safety precautions put in place by the Government of Canada owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, Livres Canada Books does not support or encourage the physical presence of any Canadians at the upcoming Frankfurt Book Fair or at any events related to the GoH project in 2020. We will not be issuing invoices for cancelled registrations in 2020. 

You can find the most updated information on the virtual component of the fair on the Frankfurt Book Fair website. They will be holding a press conference today at 11 am EST and a Q&A session on Friday, July 17 at 9:30 am EST (advance registration recommended). 

In anticipation of Canada’s Guest of Honour presence in 2021, registration for the Canada Stand at the 2021 Frankfurt Book Fair will begin soon.

LES 400 COUPS WINS AWARD IN BOLOGNA

Les Éditions les 400 coups has won the 2020 Bologna Best Children's Publisher of the Year prize for North America. The award acknowledges the best publishers at a global level. This is the fourth year in a row that a Canadian publisher has won the top honour. Bravo!
 

2020 Alberta Book Publishing Awards Shortlist
