The Sea of Cortez is one of the most diverse seas on the planet.
Jacques Cousteau, named the Sea of Cortez the “World’s Aquarium”.
The Sea of Cortez is home to more than 5,000 species of micro-invertebrates. Heart-stopping underwater encounters await you on sites surrounding the many uninhabited wind-raked islands dotting the coastline of the Sea of Cortez.
The plankton-rich currents of the Pacific along the western coast of California Sur plus the sheltered waters support whale sharks, dolphins, giant manta rays and schools of sharks such as scalloped hammerheads.       
Whale Sharks Are NOT Whales
They are sharks and the largest fish on the planet, reaching lengths of 40 feet (12 meters) or more. They are named "whale" because of its size and not because they are related to them.

Swimming with whale sharks is a life changing experience, but it must be done responsibly.

Similar to the fingerprint of a human, the pattern of spots around the gill area are unique to each individual allowing researchers to identify individual sharks.
