In case you’ve somehow missed it, the MLB All-Star game is happening in Denver next week, and the city is pulling out all the stops.

The actual game is scheduled for Coors Field on July 13 at 5:30 p.m., but the festivities start now. Here are just a few of the many All-Star-related events that begin tomorrow and run through the weekend.

Friday, July 9
Play Ball Park: This free five-day event includes family-friendly activities, giveaways, autograph opportunities, and more at the Colorado Convention Center.

Saturday, July 10
All-Star 5K/1K/Family Walk: Post-race festivities will include breakfast, refreshments, music, and beer. Registration includes admission to Play Ball Park.
National Ballpark Museum: This one isn’t time-sensitive, but if ever there was a time to polish up your historical baseball knowledge, it would be now.

Sunday, June 11
Celebrity Softball Game: See Hollywood celebrities — like Kane Brown, Charles Melton, and Karamo — take to the field for a friendly game.

Find a more extensive list of events here, and the official MLB All-Star event schedule here.

☀️ Get outside (or better yet, stay indoors) on this sunny, 99-degree day.

👋 🧳 P.S. Just a heads up, I’m headed out on vacation for a few days! 😎 But don’t worry, City Cast Denver lead producer Paul Karolyi will be subbing in for me while I’m gone. Drop a line to tell him hello!

👟 Denver rec centers reopening
The only running I’ve been doing is running out of excuses for not working out. Six Denver rec centers officially welcomed guests back on Tuesday as part of the city’s phased rec center reopening. Ten more rec centers will open in August, and the final four still-shuttered facilities will reopen in September. [Denverite]

🚫 Bye, bye single-use plastic
On Tuesday, Gov. Jared Polis signed the Plastic Pollution Reduction Act into law. The bill will begin the phase out of single-use plastics and Styrofoam containers from stores and restaurants across Colorado. A 10-cent bag fee will be implemented by 2023, and a full-fledged ban will go into effect in 2024. Some small stores may be exempt. [CO Newsline]

⚾ Nab an exclusive baseball-themed license plate
The same state committee that auctioned off exclusive pot-themed Colorado license plates in April for 420 is now offering Rockies-inspired plates in honor of the MLB All-Star game. Place your bid for plates that read “GOROCKS,” “COORS,” “BLLPARK,” HOMRUN,” and more. The auction will close July 14 at 8 p.m. Funds raised will go to the Colorado Disability Funding Committee.
