Brands of Tomorrow
Walpole is searching for a new Chair for its flagship development programme: Brands of Tomorrow.
The annual programme invests the time and talents of established British luxury brands into helping fledgling British luxury businesses achieve their potential. In the twelve years since Brands of Tomorrow was established, we have helped 108 businesses on their way to the next stage in their development: many of these brands are now globally recognised in their fields – Orlebar Brown; Nyetimber; Miller Harris; Bremont; Astley Clarke: Emilia Wickstead; Cubitts; and Business of Fashion to name a few.
Brands eligible for the programme have a turnover of less than £5m, are positioned in the luxury sector, and will pioneer growth, export goods and services, create employment and drive innovation in the coming decades.
The current programme Chair, Jonathan Heilbron, has taken Brands of Tomorrow from strength-to-strength and under his leadership it has reinforced its reputation for being an exceptional springboard for ambitious young brands. His tenure as Chair comes to an end this year, and we are looking for a new Chair to take on the baton.
The Chair’s role will officially begin with the launch of the 2020 Brands of Tomorrow in January next year, but will ideally shadow Jonathan at the Brands of Tomorrow masterclasses during the Autumn and Winter of 2019.
The role of the Chair is to oversee the strategy, direction and smooth running of the Brands of Tomorrow Programme, working closely with Walpole’s CEO and Programme Manager. The Chair will help select the 12 successful brands from a long list of around 150 applicants, be a key part of selecting mentors from established luxury brands to match with those at the beginning of their journey, and in recommending speakers for the Masterclasses. The Chair will also be on hand to offer his or her own guidance, advice and expertise to the 12 new luxury leaders each year, and will, themselves, have built a career leading luxury brands.
