Coderetreat is a day-long event, focusing on the fundamentals of software development and design. By providing developers the opportunity to focus, away from the pressures of 'getting things done', the coderetreat format has proven itself to be a highly effective means of skill improvement. Practising the basic principles of modular and object-oriented design, developers can improve their ability to write code that minimizes the cost of change over time.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Tickets are free, register here.

Connect a female Sri Lankan activist to the web

Let’s start November by doing something amazing. Sandya Ekneligoda is a human rights activist from Sri Lanka. Since her husband Prageeth was abducted in 2010 she has campaigned for the truth about his disappearance. Sandya has led vigils for the disappeared across the country and has attended Court over 100 times to track her husband’s case. She needs our help for something practical – a new computer so she can continue her campaign and collaborate online.
