Social messaging for content distribution


This tactic has been around for awhile but seems to be gaining more steam among brands. Rather than send out new content (blog posts, deals, new products) via email alone, some brands are turning to social messaging apps to further the message. In some cases, a Facebook Messenger campaign will see a 30% click-through rate compared to less than 10% for an email campaign.

App of the Week

Whale - Meme Creator (iOS app)

The Facebook team has been quietly rolling out a series of one-off apps like Aux (music) and Bump (chat). Whale is another one, aimed at teens, creators, and content makers. With Whale, you can build a meme using the app's stock photo library or photos of your own, then add text, effects, and more. The app is currently only available in Canada on iOS.
