You can now hide unwanted replies to your tweets ... Pinterest launches a hand-curated shop in anticipation of Small Business Saturday ... TikTok begins allowing social commerce features with link in bio and links in video descriptions ... Facebook is working on a clone of Instagram's Close Friends feature ... Holiday shopping is in full swing on Facebook and Instagram: a full 3.5 million mentions so far (and it's not even Black Friday / Cyber Monday yet) ... 


Social messaging for content distribution

This tactic has been around for awhile but seems to be gaining more steam among brands. Rather than send out new content (blog posts, deals, new products) via email alone, some brands are turning to social messaging apps to further the message. In some cases, a Facebook Messenger campaign will see a 30% click-through rate compared to less than 10% for an email campaign.

App of the Week

Whale - Meme Creator (iOS app)

The Facebook team has been quietly rolling out a series of one-off apps like Aux (music) and Bump (chat). Whale is another one, aimed at teens, creators, and content makers. With Whale, you can build a meme using the app's stock photo library or photos of your own, then add text, effects, and more. The app is currently only available in Canada on iOS.
