Young Engineers are on the way! The Chamber's Engineering Sector Partnership initiative supported a Women in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Day at Kaneohe Elementary where students got to experience hands-on activities led by women engineers. The day showcased 13 women leading activities around coastal engineering, environmental engineering, structural engineering and more. The day was an initiative to inspire young students grades K-5 to pursue a career in engineering regardless of gender identity and was also a way to show young girls female leadership in STEAM. In all, over 450 K-5 students experienced a hands-on STEAM activity. Thank you to partners from Hensel Phelps, Kennedy Jenks, Oceanit, UH College of Engineering and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for volunteering your time to this day.
