IN THIS ISSUE

Aloha Chamber Members,

Since the inception of the Chamber’s Young Professionals Program in 2011, the program has grown exponentially with membership and programs. As a member of various national Chamber boards, I always highlight our YP Program and, there's no doubt, the program was always emulated by many of my colleagues and is considered one of the top programs in the nation.

Throughout the pandemic, the YPs continued to push forward with various programs, albeit, virtually. Even so, their programs and participation remained active and strong. They even created a mentorship program for high school students. Now that restrictions are being lifted, the desire to return to in-person events has been undoubtedly embraced, so much so that the first four in-person events have been sold out.

Our YP Program is the cornerstone to level up leadership in our state. If you would like to get involved as a supporter or a member, please contact Tricia Fetui, Executive Director of the YP program and our AVP of Events.

Laulima & mahalo,

ADVOCATING FOR BUSINESS

Many of our Chamber week festivities were put on pause due to Omicron in mid-January. We are pleased that we are still able to have some of our premier events that so many members enjoy every year. As a reminder, the Legislative Meet & Greet Reception is this evening, February 23, 5:30 PM, at Café Julia, as an opportunity for business leaders to meet and interact with legislators, business associates, Chamber members and others in a social setting. While networking, learn more about the Chamber's 2022 legislative initiatives and how it will help your business.

As a reminder, our monthly Chamber Policy Committee meeting will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday via zoom. We will be joined by Jennings Imel, Executive Director of the Western Regional Office for the U.S. Chamber. Jennings will provide a federal update on legislation that could affect the Hawaii business community. If you would like to participate in either the Legislative Meet and Greet or the Policy Committee meeting, please email our AVP of Business Advocacy, Trevor Abarzua.

SUPPORTING OUR MILITARY

To continue the Alliance's Building Hawaii Intel Career Pathways Together series, the latest session focused on careers in Signals Intelligence. Learn more about what the industry is doing to work with academia and the National Security Agency to lay out career pathways and intern/job opportunities to engage students.

SHAPING OUR FUTURE WORKFORCE

High-paying, in-demand jobs within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) field are forecasted to grow in our state in the near future. To better prepare our students to meet the requirements of both college and employment post-graduation, we know that early exposure is one of the largest drivers behind students continuing to pursue STEM in their studies over the years.

We invite you to join us for Engineering Virtual Parent & Guardian Night 2022: My Student, the Future Engineer? Hear from engineering educators, employers and student ambassadors from the UH College of Engineering about the exciting opportunities available for Hawaii students in the STEM field, right here at home. Additionally, learn more about how you can support your student (or niece, nephew or extended family) as they grow their interest in STEM and seek new opportunities to help them stay on track.

This event is free and open to the public. Register here.

Engineering Virtual Parent & Guardian Night is being offered as part of Engineers Week 2022, celebrating a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce. If you’d like to learn more about Engineers Week, please email us.
