Cathy Gairn - Albury’s 2017 NSW woman of the year

Cathy Gairn - Albury’s 2017 NSW woman of the year

Part of our role at RDA Murray is to encourage and support businesses in the region to reflect on their progress and to take a helicopter view of where they have come from and where they are going, given the changes in the regional, national and international business environment. Each month we will showcase businesses to hear about their stories.

We hope that these stories will provide you with insights that will support and inspire your business/organisation to review your position in the marketplace.

This month we feature Cathy Gairn from Tumbarumba in the eastern part of the Murray region. Cathy has been named Albury’s 2017 NSW woman of the year. Cathy owns the very successful Courabyra Wines. She also formed a committee to start the major tourism event Tumbafest. This is her story.

The Murray region consists of 10 local government areas each having characteristic forms of business, culture, challenges, ways of thinking and working. The social and economic performance of the region arises from the of the complex interaction between the communities and businesses that reside within the region. An important element of the business landscape is the provision of services from local government to the communities and businesses within each local government area.

To gain a better understanding of how local government is shaping the social and economic landscape of the Murray region, RDA- Murray will feature a short overview from the General Manager of each local government agency. This month we feature Steven Pinnuck, GM of Greater Hume Shire.
