• The Taste of Cambridge (Md.) on Sat., July 13 is two events in one—a free street festival and a crab-cooking competition among area chefs. Yes, you can taste all the entries and vote for “People’s Choice” winners! Details.
• The Tawes Crab & Clam Bake, a historic midsummer schmoozefest in Crisfield, Md. that ranks as the state’s biggest annual seafood festival, is on Wed., July 17. Details.
• Stock up on peachy treats at the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Peach Festival inn St. Michaels, Md. on Sat., July 6. Details.
• The Chincoteague Island (Va.) Blueberry Festival is the weekend of July 19-21 at the Chincoteague Center. Details.
• The Indian River Seafood and Arts Festival is Sun., July 14 at the marina in Delaware Seashore State Park, below Rehoboth. Details.

The Delaware State Fair is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. The notion of starting it up supposedly began in small-town small talk around a potbelly stove at the railroad station in Harrington. Reba McEntire and Gladys Knight are among the headliners. Demolition Derby too, of course. July 18-27. Details.

The old-school steam engines will be rockin’ & smokin' at the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association's annual show north of Easton, Md. on the weekend of July 11-14. Details.

skipjack at 25

The Skipjack Nathan will be celebrating its 25th anniversary with ceremonies and refreshments on Thurs., July 4 on the waterfront in Cambridge, Md. Details.

delaware City!

The streets will be full of square dancing, tango stepping, pie-eating, and many other festive activities during the 39th annual Delaware City (Del.) Day on Sat., July 20. The event ends with a fireworks show out at Veterans Point. Details.

• The Lewes Historical Society Summer Craft Fair on Sat., July 13 features more than 60 craftspeople showing off works in metal, wood, and much more. Details.
• The next NITE MRKT extravaganza at the fun Taco Reho in Rehoboth Beach, Del. is Thu., July 18. Twentyish artists will be showing works. Details.
• The Lewes (Del.) Antiques Show & Sale on the weekend of July 12-13 features 24 different dealers from around the region. Details.
• More than 100 potters, jewelers, carpenters, and other artists will show their stuff at the Angola by the Bay Craft Fair in Lewes, Del. on Sat., July 20. Details.

• Lots of racing planned for the Admiral Byrd Regatta at the Cambridge (Md.) Yacht Club the weekend of July 19-21. A little partying, too! Details.
• The loud & fast boats will be making Thunder on the Choptank in Cambridge, Md. on July 27-28. Details.

plein air!

The 15th anniversary edition of the weeklong Plein Air Easton extravaganza is July 14-21. Artists from all over the country will be painting the waterways and landscapes of the mid-Eastern Shore. Visitors will have lots of chances to see painters at work, as well as to  check out the finished products. Details.

Homecoming!

Edna Lockwood, the last of the sailing bugeyes, was built in 1889 on Tilghman Island, Md. She will be returning there July 19-21, docking at Phillips Wharf Environmental Center. She also has stops coming up in Cambridge, Crisfield, Deal Island, and Oxford. Click “Tour Schedule” at the link for details.
