Dreadnought South West News

Hello Everybody!
How are you all? We really hope that this finds you safe and well during this time.
We’re aware that we have been quiet recently. The impact of Covid-19 on Arts and Heritage organisations has been significant. It continues to affect us as we reconfigure how we are working, and how our daily operations can continue safely.
We will continue to highlight the amazing work that so many women are undertaking, and have undertaken through their activism, fighting against social inequalities and injustices. We are committed to opposing racism, systemic and historical. Black Lives Matter.
Occupy The Airwaves

It seems strange to look back and think about Occupy the Airwaves on the 8th of March 2020, as we start to discover what the world looks like now. There were so many highlights for us to take heart from. Too many to mention, but you can catch up with all the programmes here:
We are proud of them, and want to thank everyone involved again. To all of you who listened from home or joined in at the Workshop space at the Phoenix, or at Ashburton Arts Centre for our very first Listening Room. Thank you!
September Workshops
Good news is that we have been successfully awarded Emergency Funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, supported by Players of the National Lottery. This funding enables us to continue working over the coming months, to keep exploring and celebrating the Rebellious Sounds Archive. You can access the stories online here:
We are grateful for this support and validation of our work.
We will be running a programme of free online workshops in September. The workshops will be run by;  Choir Leader, Claire Ingleheart; Playwright, Paula B. Stanic; Community Activist, Sandhya Dave; Rapper and Poet, Silai Estatira.
So please look out for our next Mail Chimp. We will be sharing details of the workshops in August. You can also see updates via Twitter, Face Book and Instagram.
Rebellious Objects

As part of our ongoing work to capture and tell stories about women’s activism we are launching a brand new online collection of protest objects called: Rebellious Objects.
We would like to create an online gallery of pictures of objects sent in by you with a short description, and/or a story about the activism associated with it. Please get in touch here for a form and details of how to be part of this:
We will launch it in October 2020. Please send your images of Rebellious Objects and descriptions to us by the 31st of August 2020.

Please take good care of yourselves,

Josie Sutcliffe and Natalie McGrath.
