Shannon's
Prayer Letter

January 31, 2015

Happy New Year! (sorry I'm late!)

I spent the last few days of 2014 in Greensboro, NC at Encounter. Following this year’s theme, “Follow Me” students were invited to know Jesus truly and follow Him fully. Each area of the conference engaged students to love the Lord and follow Him with their whole lives, from the teaching of God’s Word and prayer, to worship, training, and serving in the community.

Because of the conference, we have started 2015 with expectant hearts, knowing that the Lord is already moving on campus, drawing students into a personal relationship with Himself. We desire to be used by Him so we are focusing on praying and sharing our faith this semester.

We started a prayer meeting on Monday nights where we pray for the campus, for students and professors, for the world and for each other. We want students to be excited about prayer and asking for His Kingdom to come on campus and around the world.

On Thursday afternoons we put our faith into action. We engage in spiritual conversations with students around campus through different surveys (like the image survey, Soularium, and the worldview survey, Perspective) asking students about who God is and about their spiritual life.

The Lord has also given us opportunities to serve the Greeks (sororities and fraternities) on campus. This has been my prayer since I began working with Cru in 2008!

We have been meeting with chapter presidents sharing with them several ways Cru can partner with them on campus, such as hosting educational programs like “How to Budget While in College” in order to generate contacts who may be spiritually interested. Also resourcing sorority chaplains with Bible study materials and offering any help we can.

My team and I are excited for this semester and what the Lord will do in us and through us. As always, thank you for praying!

Please pray for:
  • Students to know Christ and make Him known on their campus and around the world.
  • The Lord to move on campus as we pray and have expectant hearts that He will use us as we follow and trust Him.
  • Our evangelism times on Thursdays. Pray for creativity and boldness as we step out in faith to share the gospel.
  • My personal walk with the Lord, that I would walk in the power of the Holy Spirit moment by moment.

 Joyfully serving with you
