Dr Sinéad Gormally, senior lecturer in community development, has been elected as a Director to TAG: The Professional Association of Lecturers in Youth and Community Work (TAG:PALYCW). The Association represents youth and community work educators, academics and researchers across the UK, with international links to youth and community work education in countries such as the Republic of Ireland, Australia and across Europe.

eucen’s Autumn Seminar - How to establish and maintain financial sustainability in ULLL/UCE centres - Keys and tips to success - will take place in Barcelona on Thursday 16 - Friday 17 November 2017. By stimulating dialogue, gathering new ideas and working together towards new collaborations and projects, this year’s autumn seminar will tackle the following topics: Financial models of ULLL/UCE centres using different sources of funding; Identification of flagship programs, Open enrolment and Custom programs for diverse stakeholders; ROI calculations in training environments; and, Balancing Financial Sustainability with the institutions’ Social Mission.

Opening Educational Practices in Scotland (OEPS) - Legacy Resources & Final Event

The Opening Educational Practices in Scotland (OEPS) Project was funded for 3 years from Summer 2014 until Summer2017 and ended on the 31st July.  The project had a focus on the use of open education in widening participation and lifelong learning. There is an extensive collection of free courses, reports, briefings, case studies and workshop design that are all openly licensed and available for use and reversioning that will be available beyond the end of the project on 31st July 2017.  The Promise of Open Education conference will be on 11th September

OFFA Research Project Report - Understanding the impact of outreach activity for mature learners with low or no prior qualifications

You may be aware that a recent research project was commissioned by OFFA to explore approaches to outreach for mature learners with low or no prior qualifications. The research was carried out by the Open University in partnership with Birkbeck University of London, the University of Leeds and the University of Bristol. UALL was represented on the steering group for the project.

SDGs in Asia Pacific - new Jean Monnet Network funded by EC

I am very pleased to report that an application led by the EU Centre at RMIT for a Jean Monnet Network on the role of the EU in the implementation of the SDGs in Asia Pacific, has been supported. This also involves colleagues from the Australian National University (ANU), the University of Canterbury, the University of Glasgow and the National University of Singapore (NUS), including PASCAL Directors, Robbie Guevera and MIke Osborne (Director of Research, Chair of Adult and Lifelong Learning and Director of CR&DALL at the University of Glasgow).
