Invites applications for the position of

The Port Orford-Langlois School District Board of Directors is seeking a leader with an outstanding record in the field of education to serve as Superintendent beginning July 1, 2023. The position is part-time (0.60 FTE) and the School Board anticipates a beginning total compensation package, with a salary range of $65,000 to $75,000.  Benefits and deferred compensation will be included. The successful candidate must have experience as an administrator, excellent communication skills, unquestionable integrity and be willing to be involved in the community.

Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 annually, plus benefits

The Position
The successful candidate must hold or qualify for an Oregon superintendent's license and provide proof of compliance with OAR 333-019-1030 (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements for Teachers and School Staff).

  • Understands Oregon school finance, demonstrates sound fiscal management and strong budgeting skills.
The District
The Port Orford-Langlois School District serves approximately 235 students in one elementary school and one high school. The two schools are in two separate locations about seven miles apart. The District employs a staff of 20 licensed employees, 20 classified employees, 5 confidential employees, and 3 administrators. The District has a general fund budget of about $5.1 million.

The Community
The communities of Port Orford and Langlois are 15 miles apart along a picture-perfect stretch of the southern Oregon coast, approximately 75 miles from the California border. Located in northern Curry County, the area is surrounded by rolling hills, ocean coastlines, and forests containing some of the state's most valuable timber and an active commercial and sport fishing industry.

The town of Port Orford has approximately 1,200 residents. The climate is relatively mild, with winter lows rarely falling below freezing, and summer highs typically between 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit. Recreational opportunities are plentiful and include golfing, hiking, hunting, wind/wave surfing, kiteboarding, and beach combing. Port Orford is a thriving arts community with many historic attractions.
