It's our second summer at Mystery to Me!
View this email in your browser

It's been a great year!

  • As of June 20, 2014 we have happily sold more than 14,000 books! Whew
  • We are slowly but surely establishing relationships with publishers which enables us to get better deals and free stuff too (like advance reader copies)
  • We are also working hard to connect with agents and publicists so that we can have more of your favorite authors come to the store to visit
  • We've hosted 65 events to date and have many more scheduled (see below for a sneak preview)
  • James Patterson gave us $5,000 to better establish our children and young adult section
  • We read A LOT of books (and there are so many more we want to read)
  • Tom Detmer got all of our books entered into the inventory system! Three cheers for Tom!!! Note that our complete inventory is available on-line. Just go to our website and type in an author, a keyword or a title under the "Shop for Books" section
Welcome Celia!
Celia Young is an intern working at Mystery to Me. Next year she will be a Sophomore at Madison Country Day School. After reviewing books by two young adult authors and participating in their visit to the store, she expressed an interest in working at Mystery to Me.

Celia has a small book blog where she reviews and rates books based on how well the books were written, and whether they suit the intended audience. Some of her favorite books are: The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Paper Towns, and Storm of Swords. She joined the Mystery to Me community to expand her literary horizons (she's a fast reader!), fuel her blog, and of course gather work experience.

Celia works Tuesday through Friday from one to four. Apart from running her blog, some of her hobbies include, photography, painting, writing, and biking.

What we've been reading...

Tom

A fun summer read, just right for your vacation

Resistance Man, Martin Walker
A continuation of the excellent Chief Bruno series set in Southern France

Joanne
The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair, Joel Dicker
A layered "euro-thriller" about a best-selling author with writer's block and his mentor, a suspected killer.

Devil's Trill by David Elias
The book came into the store as a special order and I ended up ordering another for myself! A fascinating mystery about a blind violin teacher, his student(s), and a missing Stradivarius brings misfortune to everyone who plays it. There is another book in the series called Danse Macabre which is on the "to read" list!

Chicago Secrets by Joe Ganzer
Joe will be in the store tonight, Friday, June 20 at 7:00 pm. The book features a rather nerdy, yet full-of-himself attorney who discovers that his wife is running an escort service. A fast read with surprising psychological (and manipulative!) twists.

Caroline, Andrea and Celia will share what they're reading next month! Stay tuned.
