EIP-AGRI workshops to promote setting up Operational Groups

EIP-AGRI is organising a workshop "Establishing Operational Groups under Rural Development Programmes", hosted by The Portuguese National Authority for EAFRD in Lisbon on Thursday 27 February 2014. The workshop will provide the necessary knowledge and understanding on the EIP-AGRI to enable organisations to act as "multipliers" and help to set up Operational Groups in their own Member State or region. For this workshop, organisations from Portugal, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Malta are invited. All other EU countries will have the opportunity to participate in other workshops this year. The next one for Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Croatia and Hungary will be organised in Slovenia on 25-26 March 2014.

Flora in your French cheese?
Operational groups: The FloracQ Project

The French regions Auvergne, Rhone-Alpes and Languedoc Roussillon are not only known for their fine wines but also for their high quality unpasteurised milk cheeses. The production of these cheeses is very important for regional development: the cattle maintain the permanent grasslands and preserve the natural environment while the cheeses represent a significant economic benefit for the farmers. These cheeses need micro-organisms from the milk to develop their specific taste, but farmers in general remove all micro-organisms for food safety reasons. This means that the quality of these cheeses is put under pressure. Read more.
