This guest lecture, co-hosted by SHLC and CR&DALL, Nilanjana Bhattacharjee will present a Participatory Action Research conducted by Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), New Delhi on the lived experiences of women sanitation workers in the informal settlements of Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh), Ajmer (Rajasthan) and Muzaffarpur (Bihar) in India.

Brian Street Memorial Lecture and Conference - 9th Dec 2019, London

We are excited to announce that on Monday 9th December, King’s College London is kindly hosting the Brian Street Memorial Lecture and Conference in honour of our late President. This is a FREE all-day conference (10am-4.15pm), and our special guest speaker Professor David Bloome of Ohio State University will speak on ‘Adaptation and Imagination in Literacy’. The programme will include cameo presentations by current PhD students, plus ample opportunity for discussion and sharing. It will end with calls for action in the context of the SDGs and literacy.

The Equality Project: Starting from Home - Reducing Gender Inequalities in Botswana, Kenya and Tanzania.

A team lead by Dr Katarzyna Borkowska (School of Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Glasgow, UK) has secured research funding from the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) under the aegis of its contribution to the University of Glasgow to develop projects associated with Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) research. The project entitled: ‘Gender Equality Starts at Home: Reducing Gender Inequalities in Botswana, Kenya and Tanzania’ brings together the following Co-Is:

  • Dr Lavinia Hirsu (School of Education, University of Glasgow, UK)
  • Dr Amina Kamando (University of Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania)
  • Dr Keneilwe Molosi-France (University of Botswana, Botswana)
  • Dr Nancy Njiraini  (Strathmore University, Kenya)

All of the international co-Is from the global south are former PhD students from the School of Education at the University of Glasgow.
