🍕 Is Portland pizza better than New York's?

Plus, boozy Boba tea.

Welcome to Tuesday.

I have a VERY important question for you: Is Portland pizza better than New York pizza? Twitter user Sam Lloyd says yes and there are plenty of opinions in the replies.

What do you think folks? Can Stumptown compete with the Windy City and the Sleepless City when it comes to pies? What defining features does Portland pizza have? (My midwest relatives might ask me on our next Zoom call, so I really need your help on this).

Do you have a strong opinion about this? Hit reply and let us know.

3 things to know today

📈 The new strain of COVID-19 is popping up across Oregon. First identified in the UK, this strain is more contagious than its previous iteration, health officials said. Possible good news is that the Moderna vaccine appears to be working on this new strain. See the latest COVID-19 case numbers here

🛡️Gov. Kate Brown is defending her decision to let teachers get vaccinated before senior citizens. Brown argued that getting educators vaccinated is a step toward reopening schools across the state. Teachers became eligible for vaccination this Monday, seniors will have to wait until the week of Feb. 7. Read the full breakdown here

📱Portland police ignored dozens of 911 calls over the summer, newly released records show. Current police policy dictates that someone who calls 911 must be told why if their call won’t be responded to by an officer. Instead, many of these calls went unanswered or were closed out without police response or contact with the caller, according to emergency dispatch records.
