Easter Sunday
Scripture: John 20:1-20
You are invited to join us for our special services and activities during Holy Week. We will not have our regularly scheduled Wednesday evening activities. Instead, we will shift our fellowship meal to Thursday evening at 5:30 followed by a Maundy Thursday service of footwashing and holy communion in the sanctuary at 6:30 pm. On Good Friday, we are part of a joint effort of the United Methodist churches in West Nashville for an outdoor Good Friday service and walking the Stations of the Cross at 61st Avenue UMC (6018 New York Ave) at noon. We will host our own Good Friday service in Blakemore's sanctuary at 6:30 pm. Our Easter Faire, which will include an Easter Egg Hunt, will be on Saturday, April 15, from 9:00 to 11:00 am. And then join us on Easter Sunday morning for breakfast in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 am and worship in the Sanctuary at10:30 am.
2017-2018 Appointment Announcement
Bishop McAlilly and the Cabinet met last week to finalize pastoral appointments for the 2017-2018 Conference year. We are pleased to announce that they plan to appoint Rev. John Hill to serve with Blakemore UMC for another year!

In just two years together, we have navigated a difficult decision about our facility; restructured church leadership; adopted guiding statements about our values, mission, vision, and commitment to inclusion; set and worked toward meaningful priorities each year; laughed and cried and worshiped together; started new ministries; served our neighbors; and much more. With God's help, we will continue to grow in our ability to know and share the full extent of God's love and to see the power of God at work in us accomplish MORE than we can dream or imagine.

Thank you, John, for your epic leadership skills, willingness to wear a multitude of hats (or suction cup toys), and being a living example of Christ's light for our Blakemore Family. Here's to another year!

Brentwood UMC is hosting a women's conference on April 22nd from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and have extended an invitation to the women of Blakemore.

A note from Brentwood UMC: The idea for Woven was born out of a real and deep need to see Women of the Methodist tradition at the front and center of an event FOR Christian women, IN our community -- to have something that reached out beyond the church walls and gathered women to celebrate their daughterhood as God’s beloved.  Our desire is to affirm women's struggles, celebrate their accomplishments, and to support women in their faith journeys -- to encourage and embolden them to own their faith and live it loud.  We are hosting two great speakers, Barb Roose and Melissa Spostra in partnership with Abingdon Press and we would love to have you!  Join us on April 22nd at Brentwood UMC at 309 Franklin Rd from 9am-4pm.

A quick video from Barb Roose about the conference can be accessed here.
