Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost

Matthew 18:15-22

This Sunday, October 28, we continue in our worship series called "Christ-Like Communication." In this series, we are exploring what it would be like for us to model our communication and interaction with one another after Jesus and the teachings of the Bible. This week, we turn to Jesus' own instructions in Matthew 18:15-22 for what to do if someone wrongs you. We hope you'll join us this Sunday at 10:30 am for worship.
Remember, you can catch up on past sermons here.

BeMORE Meeting Update

The BeMore Group will not meet on Tuesday, October 30. Please join us the following Tuesday, November 6 beginning at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome.

The BeMORE Group is an open, inclusive, Reconciling small group that meets weekly to be present for one another, to engage in bible study, and to share life. This group meets at the home of Deanna McCulley and all are invited to join as frequently as they can. For more information, please contact Deanna McCulley by email or phone (615-604-1481)

Pastor Appreciation Month
October is pastor appreciation month - an opportunity to share and show appreciation to those living into their calling to minister, teach, visit, counsel, and lead our churches.

As we give thanks for Rev. John Hill, here is an article from UMC.org, written by Joe Iovino suggesting 15 ways to pray for your pastor.

Special thanks to Joe Hensley-Templeton for sharing this article with the Newsletter!
Services for Steve Tippens
The service to celebrate the life of Steve Tippens will be in the Sanctuary of Blakemore UMC on Saturday, November 3, at 2:00 pm.

A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. The family is hoping to put together a collection of notes, stories, and anecdotes about Steve. If you have anything to share, you are invited to write it down and mail it to Blakemore UMC (attn: Tippens Family), 3601 West End Ave, Nashville TN 37205.
Stewardship Mailing
Over the course of the last few weeks, Stewardship packets were mailed to our church family and friends. If you did not receive one, please contact the church office at 615-297-6519.
Frozen Assets
Frozen what? Each year, cook teams assemble to prepare recipes that are time-tested and freezer approved. These finished dishes are then frozen to sell during the holidays, where folks can thaw and cook a full meal during some of the busiest weeks of the year.

Frozen Assets sells thousands of frozen entrees, side dishes, desserts, and breakfast items each year, and proceeds go to the missions and outreach of the church. More than a fundraiser, it is an opportunity for our church family to cook together, serve together, and share in a tradition that spans multiple generations.

Items still needed:
Gallon-sized Freezer Ziploc Bags

Cooks still needed:
Bread cook teams

Special Request:
We need someone to brown several pounds of ground beef.
We are also on the hunt for several strong arms to help at church on October 26th.

Interested in joining a cook team or helping with these special requests?
Please contact Marge Rajotte at (615) 604-0084.

Thanks for all you do,

Parker the Penguin
& the Frozen Assets Team
New Sunday School Study
The Sunday School class that meets in Room 204 is beginning a new video-based study by Adam Hamilton called Unafraid: Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times. No homework or reading is required - just show up on Sundays at 9:30, watch the video, and discuss. All are welcome!
Spiritual Journey Conversations

Our Spiritual Journey Conversation (SJC) group engages every Sunday morning in open conversation about some of life’s deeper questions. Right now, we’re talking about our God-concepts – Where do we get our God-concepts?  How do we characterize our God?  Must we have a common understanding of God? In what ways do we fence God in – or out? Are we “theists,” “deists,” “non-theists,” “atheists,” “agnostics,” “pantheists,” “panentheists,” “monotheists,” “polytheists?” Do we know the difference? Does it matter? How does our God-concept influence our world view and our relationship to our world and its inhabitants?

Come, join us for stimulating, thought-provoking conversation. Sundays from 9:30-10:20 in the Library, across from Room 204.  A safe space for open conversation that doesn’t follow traditional teaching scripts and where each participant’s contribution to the conversation is honored.
We have launched a new weekly email update for our Children and Youth Ministries. If you would like to receive this email, please contact Steffie Misner-Wampler. Some upcoming activities:
