Title Image: Outreach & Missions
This special newsletter shares opportunities to put our faith into action. Information about weekly events and meetings of the church will still be delivered each week (on Thursdays), while this newsletter will share monthly information about outreach and ministries of Blakemore.
During the month of February, Blakemore UMC will join other area congregations to show some LOVE to our West End Middle School teachers and students. We are collecting school supplies to help restock classrooms, which are sorely depleted this time of year!

Items (listed below) should be new and dropped off at the church on it before Sunday, February 24th.

Interested in delivering these items with the Outreach steam? Reach out to Sarah Cloud for more information.

Upcoming Opportunity:
West End Middle School

On March 23, West End MS will host a Community Clean-up Day. Blakemore will send a team to help with landscaping, yard work and painting for a few hours that morning. If you are available and interested to put faith to action for our neighbors, please call the church office or reply to this email.

Upcoming Opportunity:
Room in the Inn

In partnership with Room in the Inn, Blakemore hosts 8 women experiencing homelessness once a month through the winter. It has been a primary annual outreach ministry for many years. These women come with stories that are often beyond our understanding. Sometimes they arrive hungry for connection, other times all they crave is a warm meal and a bed in which to sleep.

We need help to host these women every fourth Sunday of the winter months. Our next Sunday of 2019 is February 24. There is a role to fit every comfort level, though you are encouraged to consider serving a role that challenges you to see Jesus.

Needs include:

  • 1 host to spend the night
  • 3 drivers for Sunday night
  • 3 drivers for Monday morning
  • Dinner chefs and servers
  • Breakfast chefs and servers
  • Provide snacks
  • 2 people to wash the sheets and bed linens
  • 2 people to set up cots
  • 2 people to break down cots

One of the most amazing opportunities is to come and break bread with these ladies - to hear their stories and let them know they are seen and loved!

Please prayerfully consider being a part of this action packed way to be God’s LOVE in the world to our neighbors.

Project Transformation

Partner in Ministry Highlight:
Project Transformation

Each summer, Blakemore UMC serves as a Partner Church for Project Transformation Tennessee to provide hours of reading and literacy support to kids in Nashville. Each summer we make the commitment to support PT in several ways:

  • Financially support an intern by providing a portion of their living stipend
  • Provide 10-12 volunteers per day for a week of reading one-on-one with children
  • Provide dinner for interns twice during the summer
  • Invite the sponsored intern to share their experience with Blakemore
  • Pray for the Project Transformation ministry
As planning for the summer program gets under way this spring, please be in thoughtful prayer of how you might want to participate in this ministry in the summer months.
