An animated summer for AREFH

The AREFLH has kept up quite an active pace this summer with the continuation of its lobbying work but also with the presence of the president Simona Caselli on various events of the fruit and vegetable sector.

Regarding the European dossiers, in July the AREFLH collaborated on the joint declaration of the agri-food sector on the revision of the promotion policy and the 2022 annual work programme (more information).

AREFLH also responded to the public consultation on the revision of European marketing standards for agricultural products (read more).

On July 16th, President Simona Caselli won the Oscar of the Italian F&V  sector (Oscar dell'Ortofrutta Italiana 2021), during an event organised in the province of Bari by the newspaper Il Corriere Ortofrutticolo. Read more.

The President Caselli also had the honour to speak on 22 July at the "Food for Earth - Environment, Climate and Energy" conference, organised on the sidelines of the G20. Finally, Simona Caselli represented AREFLH at a round table on "How to react and restart after the pandemic: business resilience for the future of food systems and the next generation of the EU" organised by the World Food Forum and integrated into the Cibus Congress, in Parma, Italy (see Ms Caselli's intervention, in Italian at 02:31:00)

The President of the Andalusia region Juanma Moreno, as a speaker of the Committee of the Regions, participated on September 7 to the meeting of the Council of European Ministers of Agriculture on the future of rural areas. He called on the European Commission to increase the participation of European regions in the Recovery Fund for Europe, the Next Generation EU, in order to stimulate rural areas.

He thus declared: "we believe that sufficient technical support must be considered so that local and regional authorities, which have less powers in terms of programming and spending of European Union funds, can have greater ability to apply and control Next Generation funds ".
