Hello Class of 2023,

We want to see your CCA spirit!

This year we are hosting an open call inviting students eligible for commencement to submit designs for the Class of 2023 Pennant. The Class Pennant is a tradition born in 2019. Each year it is designed by a member of the commencement class and given to all participating students by the Alumni Association to welcome them into the alumni community.

All designs will be considered by the selection committee. The winning design will be produced and gifted to the Class of 2023 at the Commencement Ceremonies in May, and the designer of the winning design will be awarded a $250.*

The design parameters are as follows:**

Specs:

• Pennant size: 9” x 27”

On the pennant:

• The year “2023” must be on the pennant

• Including the college’s full name “California College of the Arts” is optional

• The “CCA” wordmark in one of the standard lockups must be on the pennant     Note: must be in teal, white, or black

Color:

• Pennant fabric color: 24 colors to choose from

• Pennant ink colors: use up to two ink colors. Our vendor can match Pantone colors, we just need to specify the number 

• Please remember that the CCA wordmark can only be in teal, white, or black so that needs to be one of the colors you choose

Illustrator File Setup:

• Design can’t have any bleeds, please leave minimum 3/8” margin on all edges 

• Set up your design as an Illustrator file

• Felt showing through the ink must be a minimum stroke of 1.25 pts

Design prompt:

Create a design that celebrates and captures the unique spirit of the Class of 2023 and the transformative journey into life after graduation. 

Designs are due by midnight Sunday, February 26th.

*Students submitting designs will need to be eligible to work in the US in order to receive an honorarium if chosen as the winning design. Students not eligible will be awarded a $250 Amazon order of their choosing. 

**Please note, the selection committee may need to make adjustments to final designs to meet printer specifications. If adjustments are needed, every effort will be made to preserve the original design, concept, and intent of the artist.
