Dear Campus Community,

This week we celebrate the 61st annual Family Weekend. I hope families can join us for a chance to see the many aspects of campus life firsthand. Find the full schedule of events here. I’d like to highlight a few other activities this coming weekend:
  • Our music program will host its annual Fantasy and Fright Concerts on Friday at 7:00 and 8:30 p.m.
  • We are hosting a Go to Mines event for prospective students on Saturday. If you know a high school student who would make a great Hardrocker, please send them our way.
  • The Museum of Geology is planning its popular annual Halloween event, “Night at the Museum,” from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday. It’s great fun for all ages.
  • Our chemistry program is holding a special research showcase for Mole Day with a keynote speaker and poster presentation from 10 a.m.-noon on Oct. 23 in CBEC 2228.
  • The Hardrocker football team takes on Western Colorado at noon on Saturday. Families can enjoy the Rowdy Rockers tailgate starting at 11 a.m. and get in free to the game with their student. A pre-game kids’ trunk-or-treat event will be held in the ramps as well.
Students who want to get a flu shot can walk into the clinic on Thursday, Oct. 28, from noon-4 p.m. More information on flu vaccinations for state employees is here

I’m pleased to see that COVID numbers on campus have dropped significantly. But COVID is still with us. Widespread vaccination has helped control virus outbreaks of the past. Students can get a COVID vaccine any time by calling student health for an appointment.

Stay safe, everyone.

Warm Regards,
