Mines Student Wins Prestigious NASA Grant to Study Welding Process for Possible Use in Space
Mines student Kaytie Barkley is researching a process called ultrasonic welding that utilizes low amplitude, high frequency vibrations to fuse two pieces of plastic together. This type of welding could someday be used to build things like spaceships out of lightweight but strong polymer or composite material.

STEAM Café—'The Oldest Profession': Sex Work through the Lenses of History, Feminism, and Sociology
6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 17
This month's STEAM Cafe uses various lenses to examine arguments around the narrative of choice in engaging in sex work. South Dakota Mines, Hay Camp Brewing Company, and South Dakota Public Broadcasting have teamed up to create STEAM Café, which will be held at 6 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at Hay Camp.

NFL Flag Football
