Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Senior Academy Launched

On Saturday 2nd October, we successfully introduced our first cohort of students to the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Health and Care Senior Academy. Students were welcomed to the Academy by the Apprenticeship Programme Manager from Cambridge University Hospitals. Our students were given an overview about health and care roles and attended live talks from a Workforce Development Advisor (Peterborough City Council) and finishing with a talk by a representative from the Prince’s Trust.

A further three sessions of the Senior Academy have been run since then, with week two hosted by Anglia Ruskin University, week three focusing on Allied Health Care Professional roles and more recently we held a virtual skills session.

Currently, we are developing an interactive space with useful resources for Senior Academy students on the ‘It’s All Coming Together website. There are various ways students can show their interest in the Senior Academy: through our website, via their teachers, careers leads or by emailing us directly.

If you would like more information, please email our team at Health&CareAcademy@addenbrookes.nhs.uk.

Inspiring the next generation.

Have you ever been inspired by someone who works in Health and Care?

We are looking for ambassadors to speak on our Academies to provide an insight into your role and career journey. You have the option to speak live or produce a pre-recorded talk for the Senior Academy. Alternatively, you could record a short video so you can get your colleagues involved at your workplace. This is great for your Continuing Professional Development (CPD)!

So whether you are in a clinical or non-clinical role, we would love to hear from you.

If you are interested, please feel free to contact us on: Health&CareAcademy@addenbrookes.nhs.uk or you can sign up via our website as a volunteer at: https://bit.ly/3CzoCXL

Resource Centre

Our new Resource Centre that has launched provides a space to overview the variety of options that are available to you from our Partners. This includes information on career pathways and tools to help you in your health and care career journey.

New content will be added in the upcoming months as we build additional resources into this page, however, there are currently two partner offers that we would love to share with you.

Staff Support Hub

If you work in any role in healthcare, social care, the voluntary sector or not-for-profit sector in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and need someone to talk to, the CPFT Staff Support Hub is here for you.

Research has found that people who work in caring roles are often some of the last to seek support for themselves. It can be hard to look after yourself when you feel you have to be there for others.

If you need a safe space to talk about any difficulties you might be facing, call our dedicated Staff Support Line 0808 801 0377 Monday – Friday 11am to 7pm.

We also welcome self-referrals and enquiries about our services at staffsupporthub@cpft.nhs.uk (please note emails may take up to 48 hours for a reply).

For those that are new to health and care, looking for a second career, unemployed or not sure what to do next …. our Pre-Employment Academy on the ‘It’s All Coming Together’ website will assist you.

The Pre-Employment Academy is a series of free online e-learning modules that provide an insight into the many health and care roles in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. As you go through the modules you will learn more about non-clinical and clinical roles and the routes into them across our region. We provide information and signpost you to our local partners and national programmes.  The ‘next steps’ module will guide you on what is expected on an application form, provide top tips, and suggest available support you maybe be able to access.

For those of you who have already joined, we have added new short films from across the region to various different modules.
