Covid-19 & Monkeypox Updates
We, at the Asian Pacific Islanders Coalition of Washington (APIC-SPS), held our monthly coalition meeting on August 15th. During this meeting, the Department of Health presented updates on Covid-19 and Monkeypox (see video below).

Monkeypox: As of August 12, 2022 Washington State had 265 cases of Monkeypox. For more information, visit the DOH website here. You can also call 1-833-829-HELP for assistance in 240 languages.

APIC SPS Communication Internship, 2022-23 

APIC SPS is seeking an intern for 2022-23. We are looking for undergraduate students, recent graduates, or graduate students who can demonstrate that they seek to gain hands-on experience in grassroots community development within a community organization. The APIC SPS Internship Program strives to encourage and cultivate young AAPI student leaders to explore a career in the public service, public policy, community, or related sectors. This internship program will also provide hands-on experience and training on how to organize and implement civic engagement activities to increase the participation of AAPIs in the public policy process. Intern(s) report to the APIC Program Director.

For the Year of 2022 and 23, we are offering this paid internship for Communication. If you are interested in remote, unpaid internships throughout the year, please apply as well. DeadlineSeptember 15, 2022

Paid internships receive a total stipend of $9,000 between October and June, or $1000 monthly. The internship time frame may be negotiated with the Program Director and per contract. Work duties will be assigned by the Program Director of APIC SPS and will be 12 hours weekly, or 50 total hours monthly.

Thurston County Fair GOTV
In July, APIC-SPS partnered with the Thurston County Auditor's office to register voters at the Thurston County Fair! Despite the heat, we got many new registered voters and encouraged others about the importance of civic engagement. Don't forget to participate in
National Voter Registration Day on September 20th and vote
