Fair Housing Assessment
The Housing Authority of Thurston County and the City of Olympia asked APIC SPS to help gather information to address housing discrimination and housing barriers in Thurston County.

A community survey is available online: https://engage.olympiawa.gov/fair-housing-assessment. All Thurston County residents are invited to participate.

In addition to the survey, if there are other ways to connect or get feedback from your community, please email us at apic.southpugetsound@gmail.com. We are in the process of planning small group conversations to gain deeper insight into housing challenges and goals faced by members of our community.
DACA Update

Effective Oct. 31, 2022, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) implemented the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) final rule, which:

  • Maintains the existing threshold criteria for DACA;
  • Retains the existing requirement that DACA requestors file Form I-765 and Form I-765WS concurrently with Form I-821D; and
  • Affirms the longstanding policy that DACA is not a form of lawful status but that DACA recipients, like other deferred action recipients, are considered “lawfully present” for certain purposes
For more information on DACA, please visit their USCIS DACA webpage.
Census Update

The US Census Bureau is looking for ideas to inform planning for the 2030 Census.Your feedback will help design a better 2030 Census.

  • What tools and messages should the Census Bureau use to invite people to respond to the census, especially historically undercounted populations?
  • What technology could make responding to the census more user-friendly?
  • What technology could further enhance the Census Bureau's efforts to increase self-response and facilitate our work to collect data in person, when necessary?
